Pack Smart, Not Heavy
When it comes to packing for Dreamforce, less is definitely more.
Shoes: This is the most important item on your list. You'll be doing a lot of walking and standing, so wear your most comfortable shoes. I on average walk about 20,000 steps a day at Dreamforce, which equals about 8 to 10 miles. By the end of Dreamforce, you easily could have walked a marathon. I don’t know about you, but I’m not the one to break in a new pair of heels or loafers at that type of distance. Pick up a pair of hokas and start breaking them in NOW, or a pair of running shoes with cushion you’ve already broken in.
Small First Aid Kit - Your feet are going to blister, pack blister bandaids. Pack regular Bandaids. Pack deodorant. Pack your favorite pieces of gum and mints.
Travel Sanitizer - Trust me. I don’t have to explain this. Touchland has this in a perfect travel size, and there is always Purell.
Small Clutch / Clear Crossbody bag - When you attend Dreamfest or other happy hours, you will want something to carry your items. A small clutch, or a clear crossbody bag, is great for those venues where you need to pass through security while still wanting to have something to carry your belongings.
Devices and Chargers: Bring only the devices you absolutely need. If a workshop requires a laptop, bring it. Otherwise, a tablet or smartphone might be all you need. Break out the iPad and Pencil, and take notes! Charging stations are available across the campus, but be sure to pack your charging cables or an extra battery pack.
I like the mophie charging packs and charging cases, I’m typically well charged between these both now a days.
Bringing an extension cord is actually a really fun way you can make friends, you will find people will gather around you to charge up their devices. I like this Anker Power Cube, as it is versatile with the USB options, extra outlets, and is quite portable. So portable, I misplaced mine and I have to order a new one.
Headphones: Don't forget your headphones! Different than years before, Salesforce is changing to provide audio via the Salesforce Events Mobile App. Many sessions use Live Session Audio, which you can access through the Salesforce Events Mobile App to listen in.
Layers: San Francisco weather changes often, so layers are your friend. Pack clothes you can easily put on or take off as the day's temperature changes. Bring a windbreaker/rain jacket, as it is going to happen at least one day in which you had one.
Water Bottle: Stay hydrated by bringing a reusable water bottle to fill up at one of the many water stations. A reusable straw is a definite nice to have!
What Not to Bring: Avoid overpacking. Meals and snacks are provided for attendees, and you'll want to save room in your bag for all the cool swag you'll get! A simple backpack or shoulder bag is all you need, and even then that might be a stretch. You will end up like this fella before you know it:
